I spent a great day at Silverstone Racing Circuit last Sunday. It was the first round in the 2016 World Endurance Cars series. The 6 hour race saw over 30 cars on track split into four different classes, so effectively four races in one.
Coventry Telegraph
Nice to see one of my photos used in a Coventry Telegraph article.
The writer, Pete Clemons, put a story together about Cliff Hands who has recently launched a new album. Pete asked me to take a photo of Cliff when he appeared with Kristy Gallacher, to use in the article. I happened to have a pocket camera with me so was very happy to oblige!
British Motor Musem
Spent an enjoyable couple of hours visiting this great museum at Gaydon to try out a new prime lens
Corporate photos
Couple of corporate photos taken last week primarily for website use.
Transform
All photographers should watch this video by Zack Arias
Xerocon at London
Went down to London during the week to attend Xerocon, the annual conference hosted by cloud based accounts software company Xero.
Open Mic
Our local Sunday afternoon Open Mic has moved from our pub to a bar in the centre of Coventry.
The three of us who normally turned up when it was within walking (staggering) distance went along to the first Sunday at the new venue to support the talented local musician Kristy Gallacher who organises and hosts it.
Midland Air Museum
Took an hour out to wander around the Midland Air Museum today and took along my favourite pocket camera
London
Had a great day out in London for my birthday; had to take a couple of cameras along of course
The power and magic of social media
The connections made via social media are fast and wide ranging as well as often very interesting.
Yesterday we went for a meal at a restaurant called ‘Street’. I took a photo inside the restaurant with my phone, as you do, and put it on their Foursquare account after a quick edit in Snapseed.
Lightroom CC
I use Lightroom a lot on the PC for editing photos and currently have version 5.7 installed.
I have seen references to the Dehaze tool which is in version 6 of Lightroom and also watched a YouTube video yesterday about creating panoramas in Lightroom which I subsequently found is also only in version 6.
Christmas Transport
Yesterday was a lovely day, mild and sunny but today it has been very windy and constantly raining so I decided to spend an hour in our local Coventry Transport Museum.
The museum is a wonderful resource as it is free of charge to enter and full of all sorts of interesting examples of our transport heritage, something that Coventry has been famous for, over the years.
Family Christmas
Although I'm not a massive fan of Christmas it is always nice when you get to see family members that you don't see during the rest of the year. Add in a few very young, very old members and fireworks and its difficult to take a bad photo
Still enjoying my RX1R
Whilst not suited to, say, Music photography, which forms a lot of what I do, the RX1R is fun to carry round and is great for landscapes and general travel photography.
I took advantage of a couple of early mornings in Coventry when the sun came out.
A little bit of Adobe Lightroom helps
This year my eldest daughter turned 30 and to celebrate went on a three week holiday to India with her other half, Doug.
When she asked if I could lend her a camera I was more than happy to hand over my Sony RX100 Mk3 a great camera for its size.
Hazel O'Connor and The Subterraneans
Arguably the best Covers band in Coventry and the surrounding area are The Subterraneans. A testament to that is their regular appearances at Birmingham's top live music venue, The Jam House who have also booked them to play their prestigious New Years Eve gig for the last few years.
Sony RX1R
I do suffer a little from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). As evidence of that I recently spent some time reading up on the Sony RX1R which has a full frame sensor in a compact body with a fixed 35mm f2 Zeiss lens specially designed for the body.
