Took an hour out to wander around the Midland Air Museum today and took along my favourite pocket camera
Sony RX1R
I do suffer a little from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). As evidence of that I recently spent some time reading up on the Sony RX1R which has a full frame sensor in a compact body with a fixed 35mm f2 Zeiss lens specially designed for the body.
Albany Theatre Anniversary Party
The Albany Theatre is an impressive Art-Deco style theatre residing behind the superb façade of the old Coventry Technical College building. The building was designed in 1919, and the theatre opened in 1935. Known to its regulars as the Butts Theatre, it closed its doors behind the last audience member in January 2009, following the acquisition of the (then-named) City College site by developers.
The Theatre re-opened its doors on 1st February 2013, supported by Coventry City Council and a vast team of highly-valued volunteers. A considerable amount of work has taken place behind the scenes; revamping, replacing and renovating all services and facilities to provide safe and up-to-date equipment, an impressive array of dressing rooms, new sound and lighting systems and a full-height fly tower.
The Albany Theatre is ‘home’ to a range of local schools, musical theatre societies and community groups, as well as programming a complementary range of professional productions from comedy, live bands and tribute acts to dance and children’s productions – not forgetting our traditional annual pantomime.
I help out with the Theatre so went to the party to celebrate the second anniversary of its re-opening. It was a great opportunity to try out my new 85mm prime lens! Here are some photos of the night.
KING Phoenix
I felt very privileged to be invited along as Coventry band KING Phoenix launched live on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.
Original King members Jim Lantsbery, Tony Wall & Mike Roberts teamed up with Tony Dangerfield & Matt Hart to play as King Phoenix.
The band played 5 numbers live and in between Vic Minett from BBC interviewed family members and friends who remembered King from the 80s.
My photos are here: http://www.lozmoore.com/king-phoenix/
Mike Roberts even brought his original pair of their trade-marked multi-coloured Doc Martens out of the wardrobe to wear!
Godiva Festival
The Godiva Festival in Coventry is a great free festival put on by the local council in the city's War Memorial Park. It is spread over a weekend in July each year, although it had to be cancelled in 2012 due to so much rain making the ground waterlogged and unsafe. The acts are a mixture of local talent and well know headliners.
The festival attracts a wide cross section of people!
