We visited Falmouth for the Oyster Festival. The hotel we stayed at was so nice I put together a very quick video of it
When we arrived we went down to the Oyster Festival to see what was going on for a while but then got back to the hotel for an early night so we could get up bright and early to visit St Ives as the weather forecast was looking good.
So Friday in St Ives was beautiful but Saturday it threw it down so we stayed in Falmouth and didn't get too much chance to take photos. Instead we went down to the festival and tried some oysters and a glass of champagne. We liked the champagne so much that we went back into the festival tent and bought a bottle to take outside to drink between us!
We did watch a big German cruise ship leaving the harbour at 6pm. Google told us that it was on its way to Cork, then the Azores, the Bahamas and finally Miami Florida - nice!
On Sunday we went down to see St Michael's Mount which was a great place to visit
we just managed to walk back along the causeway before the tide came in and people had to use the boats. Had a lovely meal in a hotel overlooking the Mount and then when walking back to the car we saw some kitesurfers being filmed off Marazion beach
We drove through Porthleven on the way back and the waves outside the harbour were mental!
That evening we went over to Flushing for a drink, which is just the other side of a strip of water from Falmouth.
Monday we had to return home but to make the most of our break we stopped off at a few places on the way. First of all Mevagissey where the tide was completely out and we had a lovely lunch at The Sharksfin
Next was a brief visit to Polperro where you can take a little tram down to the harbour and back from the car park
Finally we pop into Looe and had a lovely cream tea in Miss Marple Tea rooms
A lovely long weekend - we need to return again soon
