On 6th December 2014 I blogged about recording a video for two friends, Ross Darby and Lizzy Coughlan.
Ross had written a song called Devil and The Deep Blue Sea. He decided to release as a single on a budget of £99 with a view to getting it in the top 40 - a massive ask you would think.
Ross wanted to show other local musicians that you can do this without the help of a major record label,. and to show music venues how important it is to support local artists
The video helped him kick off a social media program and a very busy list of gigs over 6 weeks to raise the profile of his challenge.
The aim was to get as many pre-orders as possible before its official release on 29th March 2015.
Well, yesterday was launch day and I took a few photographs at the gig last night to celebrate the launch.
Amazingly the single got into the 30 of iTunes downloads on day one!
Ross and Lizzy now have to wait for next Sunday to see where it has reached in the official charts.
